A Respectable Woman

Philippa Maclay lost her father and her innocence in one shocking episode of violence on a mission station in Africa. Obliged to support herself she finds purpose and friendship teaching at a charity school in the East End of London. Her peace of mind is shattered at the reappearance of Major Kit Clevedon, back from the Crimea and looking for the kind of relationship that Philippa can ill afford.
