Filología bíblica y humanismo

The Hebrew Bible is one of the classics of world literature. Its translation into Greek (Septuagint) and Latin (Vulgate) allowed the wisdom of Israel to become part of Western cultural heritage, and many of its passages have been an endless source of inspiration for the arts. By way of a tribute, this volume contains a number of scattered and often hard to find articles by professor Natalio Fernández Marcos, who devoted much of his research activity to the study of biblical texts and humanism. Written in language accessible to non-specialists, the articles analyse aspects of the confluence between the Bible and Humanism at three key moments in its history: the splendour of Hellenistic Judaism; the meeting of the Jewish religion with its cultural environment in antiquity; and the rise of biblical studies in Renaissance Spain.
La Biblia hebrea es uno de los clásicos de la literatura universal. En ella se encuentran tal vez las mejores páginas acerca de la condición humana. Al ser traducida al griego (Septuaginta) y al latín (Vulgata), la sabiduría de Israel pasó a formar parte del patrimonio cultural de Occidente. La Biblia es fuente de inspiración de las artes plásticas, la historia, la literatura, la música y el cine de nuestro legado occidental. En este volumen, con un lenguaje accesible a los no especialistas, se analizan algunos aspectos de la confluencia entre Biblia y Humanismo en tres momentos fascinantes de su travesía histórica: el esplendor del judaísmo helenístico; el encuentro de la religiosidad judía con su entorno cultural en la Antigüedad; y el auge de los estudios bíblicos en la España del Renacimiento. Es de esperar que los textos bíblicos sigan contribuyendo a configurar el humanismo del siglo XXI.
